SPEAR THERAPEUTICS

SPEAR was funded in 2003 by Dr Steve Everett (Gray Cancer Institute) and Prof Gerry Potter (De Montfort University).

The company has developed a set of rationally designed prodrugs that are activated by enzymes that are uniquely found in cancer tissues and not in normal ones. As a result the prodrugs are only activated at the cancer site and exhibit exquisit tumour specificity.

Spear has over 15 prodrugs in development and has developed several propriatory mouse xenograft models.

Seed investors included BBSF and Cancer Research Technology.
