Xcellsyz Ltd was founded in July 2000 by Dr Peter Shepherd (UCL), Prof. Steve Yeaman (University of Newcastle) and Prof. Antonio Zorzano (University of Barcelona).
The company is developing immortalised human cell lines based on a validated platform technology in the field of cell culture. Its client base comprises several large pharma companies including GSK, Novartis, NovoNordisk & Pfizer as well as many small and mid-size companies.
The company has raised £300K from BBSF & Barcelona Impren, followed by a £1,2M series A led by Northern Enterprise Limited and ITX.. In December 2004 it was sold to Cambrex (US-based company)
